Elva “Dolly” Black, 92, of Indiana, died Friday, May 8, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on November 8, 1933, in Creighton, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Emily (Mattern) Schreckengost. Dolly was the wife of the late John C. Black who died in July 23,2017.
Dolly was a graduate of East Deer High School and dedicated 28 years of service to the snack bar at Mohawk Lanes before retiring. During her years there, she also enjoyed one of her favorite pastimes—bowling, and was an active member of many bowling leagues throughout her life, continuing to bowl until the age of 90.
Dolly found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including playing Bingo and visiting casinos with her daughters. She loved cooking for her family and took great pride in preparing holiday meals, especially making her famous pigs in the blanket for the annual family reunion. Above all, Dolly cherished the time she spent with her family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured for years to come.
Dolly is survived by her children: Keith Stuck, of Indiana, Karan (Jerry) Elliott, of York, Emily (Tom) Hawk, of Indiana, and Craig Stuck, of Indiana. She will be missed by 23 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; and her great-great granddaughter. Dolly is also survived by her brother: Richard Schreckengost; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dolly was preceded in death by her husband John C. Black; her son: Kenneth Stuck; her granddaughter: Jennifer Stuck; and 10 siblings.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home & Crematory. Her funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 with Pastor Bob Kephart officiating.
