The Department of Environmental Protection on Tuesday will conduct a public hearing on Homer City Generation’s proposed 5.8-mile natural gas pipeline that is planned to feed the new power plant in Center Township.
The hearing’s focus is a permit application under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System. The pipeline would be 30 inches in diameter and run from an interconnect facility in Burrell Township, through Black Lick Township, and to the Center Township site of the power plant. Since the event is specifically about the pipeline, only public comment on that topic will be accepted.
The hearing is from 5 to 7 PM at the Indiana Theater in downtown Indiana. Those who wish to speak are urged to pre-register with DEP’s Elspeth Koehle by calling 814-332-6101, or by emailing her at ekoehle@pa.gov. If you wish to comment electronically, you can do so at that same email address using “NPDES Permit Application No. PAD320011” on the subject line.
Prior to the hearing, the group Indiana County Common Good will hold a rally at IRMC Park in downtown Indiana from 4 to 5PM.
