It looks like layoffs are coming at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Westmoreland County.
The county’s Airport Authority Executive Director Maurice Haas says he spent most of yesterday in meetings discussing finances and the 50 employees at the property, adding that “there will be reductions”. The situation developed after Spirit Airlines abruptly canceled all flights and ended operations over the weekend. Spirit was the only commercial carrier operating out of Palmer Regional.
Talks have been ongoing with other airlines, but there are no immediate deals on the table, according to Haas.
