FAMILY OF WOMAN WHO DIED WHILE LOOKING FOR CAT FILES LAWSUIT

The family of a Westmoreland County woman who died while searching for her cat is filing a lawsuit.

Sixty-four-year-old Elizabeth Pollard was searching for her cat in December of 2024 when she fell approximately 30-feet into a sinkhole near Monday’s Union Restaurant and dropped into an abandoned mine. Pollard died in the fall.

Her family is suing the restaurant and U.S. Steel — the owner of the mine.
