All living former Governors of Pennsylvania are calling on the state legislature to ensure the safety of Governor Josh Shapiro and his family after State Treasurer Stacy Garrity declined one-million-dollars in funding for security upgrades at his personal residence.
In a statement, the former governors urged Pennsylvania lawmakers to make the safety and security of Shapiro and his family a priority in the aftermath of another assassination attempt against President Trump last weekend and the arson attack at the Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg last year. Garrity, Shapiro’s expected Republican opponent in the November election, said the Treasury does not have the legal authority to pay for security improvements to a personal residence.
The Democrat Shapiro accused Republicans of playing “shameful games,” attacking him and his family.
