Jacob deGrom proved he still has it on the mound and Bubba Chandler took his lumps last night as the Pirates dropped their series finale to the Texas Rangers.
Joe Block has the story.
Manager Donnie Kelly says Jacob deGrom kept the Pirates’ batters off-balance all night long.
The Pirates return to NL Central play as they travel to Milwaukee Tonight, and it’s a great pitching matchup. Paul Skenes [3-1, 3.27 ERA] tangles with the Brewers’ Brandon Woodruff [2-0, 3.42 ERA]. It’s a 7:15 airtime, 7:40 first pitch on WCCS.
PIRATES MINOR LEAGUES
Mitch Jebb didn’t really break out at the plate in his time in Altoona, but he had quite a night for Indianapolis last night, going 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, four RBIs, and a stolen base in a 6-1 win over St. Paul.
Meanwhile, Altoona busted out the bats and won its second straight game over Harrisburg, 11-2, breaking open a 3-2 game in the seventh. Keiner Delgado blasted a grand slam, Javier Rivas homered, Will Taylor homered and had three hits, and Jack Branigan and Derek Berg each had two hits for the Curve. Dominic Perachi takes the mound for the Curve tonight in the fourth game of the series.
