In a game marred by poor officiating and even worse play by the Penguins, the ugly possibility of a series sweep at the hands of the Flyers now looms large.
Paul Steigerwald has the recap of a Game Three loss in Philly last night.
Coach Dan Muse was miffed that the Penguins missed out on a power play in the first period when Sidney Crosby was penalized for embellishment after taking an inadvertent high stick by the Flyers’ Garnet Hathaway.
Muse was angered when Bryan Rust was elbowed in the face during a net-front scrum in the second period and the officials somehow managed to gift the Flyers a power play.
Only four teams have ever come back to win a Stanley Cup playoff series after trailing 3-0. The Penguins never have, but they’ve been on the other end of it, giving up a 3-0 lead and falling to the Islanders in 1975. The last time it happened was in 2014, when the Kings came from three down to beat the Sharks.
Game Four on Saturday faces off at 8 PM on 92.5 FM U92.
