Indiana Borough is set to receive a $25,000 grant from the Community Endowment for the Alleghenies’ Small Town Challenge program.
This makes the borough one of four municipalities selected to take part in the program. The borough will use the funding as seed money for the Community Endowment of Indiana Borough program. The initiative will challenge participating communities to build long-term financial sustainability by raising matching funds over a two-year period. After that, the endowment will begin supporting local grantmaking and community priorities.
Indiana Borough has discussed creating the endowment over the last few years, and is the next step for the borough’s efforts to strengthen its financial stability, aggressively pursue grant opportunities and plan for long-term community needs. In a statement, ICCAP CFO and steering committee member Shagufta Haque said that the committee “is looking forward to the collaboration we hope to build with residents and businesses.”
