Indiana County’s courts have a busy schedule today, including holding jury selection for three people charged in a murder case.
24-year-old Isaac Buchkoski, 22-year-old Summer Settlemeyer and 23-year-old Thomas Alan Rivera, all of Johnstown, will go before President Judge Thomas Bianco this morning in connection with the murder of Hayden Gareffa.
Police say that on October 20th of 2022, the three along with Desean Alvarez, Mia Catafano, Taylyn Edwards, Jesse Wadsworth and a person who was 14-years-old at the time went to the home of Gareffa’s grandmother on Route 403 to kidnap him. His body was found about two miles from the grandmother’s home in an area of tall weeds and brush along Oneida Mine Road in Brush Valley Township. An autopsy showed that Gareffa was stabbed multiple times.
Buchkoski, Settlemyer and Rivera are facing charges of criminal homicide, kidnapping to facilitate a felony, aggravated assault, kidnapping and conspiracy to each of those crimes.
