The State System of Higher Education Board of Governors last week approved the budget allocations for each of its universities. IUP will receive a modest increase of $357,671, to $63,893,9443.
Also during the meeting, Dr. Jessica Hughes of the APSCUF Disability Rights Committee issued a call to action to the board to “make more decisive moves to establish ADA compliance and eliminate disability discrimination across the State System.” Hughes emphasized “the disconnects between policies that look good on paper and practices on campus.”
Hughes presented a sixteen-page document detailing APSCUF’s disability rights concerns, built on five major points:
- Full-time/full-duty work requirements
- Denials of remote teaching accommodations
- Onerous accommodation recertification requirements.
- Denial of appeals in faculty accommodations cases
- Misrepresentation of faculty rights under disability law
