The Penguins will hit the practice ice in Cranberry at 11 o’clock this morning, with some extra elbow room after the team optioned five players to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton yesterday. Avery Hayes, Ville Koivunen, Rutger McGroarty, Joona Koppanen, and Rafael Harvey-Pinard were sent down.
The big question today is whether or not Blake Lizotte and Connor Dewar can join their teammates at practice, and whether Kevin Hayes will get work on a regular line.
While all sixteen teams are confirmed for the start of the playoffs on Saturday, the regular season won’t be complete until after tonight. There are six games on the schedule, all in the Western Conference, and playoff positioning is still to be determined. All of the Eastern Conference matchups are set, though, with the Penguins playing the Flyers, the Sabres taking on the Bruins, the Lightning meeting the Canadiens, and the Hurricanes squaring off with the Senators.
The playoff schedule has not yet been announced.
