State Representative Jim Struzzi and Senator Joe Pittman are offering reaction to the passage of Governor Josh Shapiro’s budget by the state house yesterday.
The budget bill passed mostly along party lines, with a few House Republicans joining Democrats yesterday. Shapiro’s plan includes a 5.4% funding increase over last year’s plan. Struzzi said while this is just part of the process, he and his fellow Republicans have issues with the spending plan.
One thing Struzzi was happy about was the fact that the process is starting earlier in an effort to avoid last year’s 135-day impasse.
One part of the revenue would be the proposed tax on Skill Games. Pittman says they are waiting on a decision from the Supreme Court before moving forward on that issue.
The bill is now on its way to the Republican-controlled Senate.
