The Penguins had Monday off and will return to the ice today, but not at their usual practice site in Cranberry. It’s team picture day, so the workout will be at PPG Paints Arena.
The Pens will play at New Jersey on Thursday and they need just one win in their final four games to clinch a playoff spot, although they could even clinch before Thursday depending on what the Islanders and Blue Jackets do in their games.
The Penguins’ Rickard Rakell scored seven goals last week and was named Monday the NHL’s First Star of the Week.
The Devils yesterday fired their general manager, Tom Fitzgerald, the former Penguins executive who has been with New Jersey since 2015, taking over as GM in 2020 from another former Pens executive, the late Ray Shero.
