Local officials in Jeannette are considering higher pay for some part-time firefighters.
Fire Chief Bill Frye is asking the city council to raise the rate from eight-25 to 12 dollars an hour for some crew members who respond to emergencies overnight. Frye says he hopes this pay increase will encourage the part-timers to spend nights at the fire station so they are available to assist one of the city’s full-time responders during those shifts.
Councilmembers may discuss the pitch during their meeting this Thursday.
