In his first game as a major-leaguer, Konnor Griffin paid immediate dividends as the Pirates hung on to beat the Baltimore Orioles. Joe Block reports.
The sold-out crowd at PNC Park provided a raucous atmosphere. That’s something Pirates Manager Don Kelly said afterwards that he wants to see again, but he knows the team has to earn it.
Kelly added that he was impressed not just with Konnor Griffin’s at-bat, but with how the Bucs were able to plate runs in that stretch.
The Pirates are back in action against the Orioles this afternoon. Carmen Mlodzinski will start for the Bucs against the O’s Shane Baz. Due to our commitment to the NCAA Final Four, we will be unable to bring you this afternoon’s Pirates game.
