A Jefferson County woman is facing child endangerment charges after authorities say her two young children were found outside in near-freezing conditions without proper clothing while she was unconscious inside their home.
According to ExploreJeffersonPa.Com, the children, ages 2 and 4, were discovered playing in mud near a roadway in 37-degree weather without coats or shoes, and one child was not wearing pants. Troopers who responded to the Winslow Township residence reported finding the mother unresponsive on a couch and described the home’s conditions as unsafe.
The children were taken into protective custody, and the woman is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing later this month.
