A film about Roberto Clemente directed by an Indiana County native is in the running for a sports Emmy award.
The film “Clemente” directed by David Altrogge from Vinegar Hill Films was nominated for Outstanding Sports Documentary: Long format. The film had a special one-night release in Indiana at the Indiana Theater in August of 2024 and was released in theaters in September of 2025 before being broadcast on History Channel later that year. The film is currently available on Amazon Prime and Apple TV+.
The film is a documentary on the life of the Pirates legend as told through rare interviews with him along with interviews with Michael Keaton, Rita Moreno, Bob Costas and others. It received the Documentary Spotlight Audience Award at the South by Southwest Film Festival in 2024.
Winners for the Sports Emmys will be announced May 26th.
