Westmoreland County commissioners are appointing an interim public defender.
James Spriestersbach was hired last month to lead the public defender’s office but has suffered a medical emergency that has left him unable to work at this time.
Michael Garofalo has been named as acting public defender — in theory — until Spriestersbach can return to work.
