Senator Markwayne Mullin is one step closer to becoming the next head of Homeland Security.
The Senate Homeland Committee advanced Mullin’s nomination with a 8-7 vote today. Kentucky Senator Rand Paul was the only Republican to vote no while Pennsylvania Democratic Senator John Fetterman voted yes. Yesterday, Paul accused Mullin of having “anger issues.”
Mullin’s nomination will now head to the full Senate where he will need a simple majority to be confirmed.
