Sidney Crosby finally returned to action and quickly made his presence known, but some shabby play defensively cost the Penguins in an overtime loss to the first-place Hurricanes.

The Penguins were 5-3-3 in Crosby’s eleven-game absence.
Crosby said he was a little rusty, but felt good.
Crosby liked the way the Penguins put things together in the third period, but says they have to be a little better to get the two points.
Coach Dan Muse says Crosby’s top line, with wingers Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell, was back to form quickly.
The Penguins remain in second place in the Metro Division, eight points behind the Hurricanes and one ahead of the Islanders. They will play their next three games at home, against Winnipeg on Saturday, Carolina on Sunday, and Colorado on Tuesday.
