Yvonne B. (Givner) Redd, 81, of Indiana, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 14, 2026. She was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Knowles) Givner.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert “Hubb” Redd, a grandson, Michael Eric Redd, a sister, Myra Wofford, brothers-in-law, Edward and William Redd, sisters-in-law, Helen Brandenburg and Christine Givner.
After graduating from Sharpsburg High School, Yvonne moved to Indiana, PA to attend the Indiana State Teachers College, now IUP.
Yvonne was employed by Indiana County Day Care, Troutman’s and Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she retired from in 2005, after 21 years. While employed at IUP, she served as a Borough Council member, becoming the second woman and the first African- American on the council. She also served her community as the interim director of the Chevy Chase Community Center. In addition, Yvonne served as a soloist for many local weddings and churches.
Following in her husband’s footsteps, Yvonne became an ordained minister in 2007 and served as pastor of Saint James AME Zion Church in Indiana.
Yvonne will be remembered for her beautiful soprano singing voice, and her many contributions to the community of Indiana.
Yvonne is survived by a brother James Givner Jr.; her children, Yvette (Redd) Legersky of Ohio, Melissa Redd of Maryland, and Brandon (Kandi) Redd of Indiana; grandson, Mateo Redd Garcia of Maryland; sister-in-law and friend, Geraldine Noone; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, as well as many friends.
Family and friends are invited to the Bowser Minich Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm; and again, on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 11 am until the time of Reverend Yvonne’s Homegoing Celebration at 12 Noon, with Reverend Janice Johnson as Celebrant.
