On the first day of the NFL year yesterday, the Steelers were quiet, only formally announcing the contract extensions of defensive lineman Cam Heyward, linebacker Cole Holcomb, and reserve offensive lineman Jack Driscoll, along with the signing of punter Cameron Johnston, who returns to Pittsburgh after a season in Buffalo.
Around the NFL:
- To the surprise of no one, the Ravens signed former Bengal pass rusher Tre Hendrickson, prompting even more scrutiny for the manner in which they voided their previous trade for Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby.
- Former Dolphins star edge rusher Daniel Chubb signed with the Bills.
- The Cardinals released former top overall pick Kyler Murray, the quarterback who is reported to be checking out the Vikings.
- The Colts signed quarterback Daniel Jones to a two-year deal even though he is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon.
