A man was briefly taken into custody then released after he chased an Amazon delivery driver from his home in Ligonier Township to a busy intersection in Unity Township Monday night.
Ligonier Valley police said that the chase ended at the intersection of Route 30 and Sharky’s Drive after multiple agencies pulled over a rental van and a vehicle driven by Tim Bacco. He said that the incident started at 8:00 PM when the delivery man came to his home in a rural part of Ligonier Township. He came out to confront the driver, but he started to take off, so Bacco got in his own vehicle and stopped him on Darlington Road. Bacco then questioned the driver as to who he was, but the driver did not speak English. That’s when Bacco drew a gun on him. The driver sped away and he pursued. After police stopped the two vehicles, officers were able to de-escalate the incident. Bacco was taken into custody for a short period of time but was later released. Police say that internet rumors of shots being fired were unfounded.
Bacco has apologized for the incident and said that he had been robbed in the past. In a statement, Amazon says the driver was unharmed and they will cooperate fully with investigators.
