Plea and sentencing hearings are scheduled for today in Indiana County court for many different cases.
Among them is a man from North Apollo charged with two separate incidents of vehicle theft on consecutive days in September of last year. Court documents show 39-year-old Jacob Shane Penrose is charged with theft by unlawful taking, robbery with the threat of immediate serious injury, robbery of a motor vehicle and possession of an instrument of crime for an incident on September 17th. On that day, Troopers said he met up with someone trying to sell a motorcycle in Creekside and took it from the individual at gunpoint. He reportedly dropped the gun during a chase. The next day, he reportedly stole an unattended car in Young Township. In that case he was charged with theft by unlawful taking, flight to avoid apprehension, and driving on a suspended license. He was found by police in a hotel in Salem Township the following day.
Also due in court today is a Brush Valley woman charged with financial exploitation of an older adult. Police accused 65-year-old Kathy Twigg of mishandling the victim’s funds and taking financial advantage of her, along with theft by failure to make required disposition of funds. She was trusted to make payments to a nursing care facility. The discrepancy was discovered after the victim was removed from the nursing home for failure to pay. Twigg is expected to enter pleas today.
