The Steelers are usually near the bottom of the NFL player’s union rankings of each team. This year, they are dead last, with a grade of “F-minus” in home game field and locker room facilities, an “F” in treatment of families and team travel, and a “D-minus” in team ownership. They got an “A” for head coach (the departed Mike Tomlin) and an “A-minus” for special teams coordinator (the also-departed Danny Smith); a “B-plus” for training staff and offensive coordinator (the departed Arthur Smith); “B’s” for nutritionist/dietitian, weight room, position coaches (most of whom are now gone); “B-minuses” for food/dining area and for strength coaches; “C-plus” for general manager Omar Khan; and a “C” for training room and defensive coordinator.
ESPN obtained and reported the findings after the NFL filed a grievance against the NFLPA for releasing the data last year in a violation of the collective bargaining agreement. The Miami Dolphins got the highest grade in the league.
