Governor Josh Shapiro is sending PennDOT crews, including some from Indiana County, to assist with snow removal efforts in Rhode Island.
The assistance came after Rhode Island requested the assistance after the massive blizzard that hit the eastern seaboard earlier this week. More than 30 pieces of equipment and associated operators, mechanics, foremen, and managers from the Indiana, Harrisburg, Clearfield, and Uniontown-based regions. PennDOT team members will be joined by Secretary Mike Carroll in the effort to assist clearing snow off local government roads.
In a statement, Shapiro said that Pennsylvania is in a good position to provide aid after PennDOT and PEMA teams helped clear roads after another historic snowstorm. He thanked those who are headed out “for going above and beyond to deliver for our Commonwealth and help their fellow Americans.”
The deployment started yesterday and is expected to run another seven days.
