In Bradenton, Florida, the Pirates will put in one more day of work today before opening the Grapefruit League schedule tomorrow in Sarasota against the Orioles. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 and you will hear the game, and Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay, on WCCS.
Yesterday at Pirate City, ace Paul Skenes threw a three-inning simulated game, facing Oneil Cruz, Bryan Reynolds, Marcell Ozuna, and Nick Gonzalez. He is amping up for the World Baseball Classic, which gets underway on March 5th. Team USA will play exhibition games March 3rd, 4th, and 6th, then begin the Classic against Great Britain on March 7th in Houston.
Skenes says he is preparing for this season expecting that he’ll still be pitching in October…in the playoffs.
Greg Brown joins us on Indiana In the Morning on WCCS at 8:10 AM, presented by A&A Construction in Indiana.
