Along with a motions hearing for a suspect in a vehicular homicide, there are plea and sentencing hearings on the docket today for Indiana County’s Court of Common Pleas, including an assault case from last July.
Police charged 42-year-old Christopher Schleicher of Clymer with strangulation, simple assault and four counts of summary harassment. State troopers said on July 31st, he and his 16-year-old son were involved in a fight when he put the boy in a chokehold, hit a 13-year-old girl in the head, pushed a 17-year-old boy around then pushed an unnamed 18-year-old woman back into a vehicle. He was taken into custody the following morning. Schleicher is expected to enter pleas to the aforementioned charges this morning.
Also due in court today for a sentencing hearing is 43-year-old Joshua Stumpf. He pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver connected with an incident in May of 2022. He and Charles Wilcox of Northern Cambria were arrested after an investigation by the Indiana County Drug Task Force into drug sales at a home on Philadelphia Street. Task force members found suspected heroin/fentanyl along with items to pack and sell the drugs inside a wall clock with a fake face on it. The search also turned up $4000 in cash, a shotgun and cell phones used to coordinate the drug sales.
