Last week Governor Josh Shapiro unveiled Pennsylvania’s first comprehensive Housing Action Plan, a sweeping strategy aimed at expanding access to safe, stable and affordable housing across the state.
Developed under an executive order signed in September 2024, the plan outlines current housing conditions, projects future needs and proposes nearly 30 initiatives focused on building and preserving homes, reducing regulatory barriers and strengthening protections for renters and homeowners, with the goal of positioning Pennsylvania as a national leader in housing affordability by 2035.
