The Marcellus Shale Coalition earlier this week issued a statement concerning the Trump Administration’s recent move to rescind the 2009 Greenhouse Gas Endangerment Finding. The move abolished legal prerequisites to regulate greenhouse gases coming from motor vehicles. The ruling also effectively eased compliance for Marcellus Shale gas well developers by removing the basis for methane emissions rules.
Marcellus Shale Coalition President Jim Welty said in a statement that the original moves in 2009 weakened the country’s competitive edge, harmed job creation, and made it more difficult to safely produce the domestic energy needed to grow the economy and keep it secure. He called the action by the EPA a “an important step in restoring commonsense to our public policies while supporting our environment, economy, and America’s security.”
