Prosecutors are dropping a felony charge against Penn State hockey standout Gavin McKenna.
Court records say the decision follows review of video evidence from a January 31st altercation. The Centre County District Attorney’s Office says the evidence does not support a felony charge. McKenna faced felony aggravated assault after allegedly punching a man outside a State College bar. The victim is recovering after jaw fractures that required surgery.
McKenna, a projected top pick in this year’s NHL Draft, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing next week for misdemeanor simple assault and summary offenses.
