The great Steelers defensive end L.C. Greenwood did not make it to the NFL Hall of Fame, falling short once more in the seniors category, where he was one of three finalists. Known as “Hollywood Bags” for his colorful personality (and colorful gold high-top cleats), Greenwood won four Super Bowls with the Steelers and was named to the NFL All-Decade Team for the 1970s. He died in 2013.
49ers running back Roger Craig was elected, and Bengals quarterback Kenny Anderson also came up short in the vote.
Modern-age players who were elected yesterday were former Pitt and Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald, former Chargers and Saints quarterback Drew Brees, ex-Carolina linebacker Luke Kuechly, and former Patriots and Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri.
The induction ceremony will be August 8th in Canton, Ohio.
