A new date has been selected for the Wherum Road closure in East Wheatfield Township.
PennDOT announced that the closure will now start next Monday, February 9th and run through September 11th. Contractors Merlo, Incorporated will implement a closure of Wherum Road near the intersection with River Road as crews will replace a bridge that carries River Road over Mardis Run.
PennDOT’s Detours will have drivers heading from the south side to the north take Wehrum Road, then head south to Route 22, travel west on Route 22 approximately two miles and take the exit to Route 403. Make a left off the ramp onto Route 403 and head north for approximately six miles to the stop sign at Pagano’s Equipment Services store. Make a right at the stop sign onto Rexis/Wehrum Road and stay on this road for six miles and it will bring traffic to the northern side of the closure.
When traveling from the north side of the closure to the south side, drivers will take Wehrum/Rexis Road north six miles until you reach Route 403 near Pagano’s Equipment Services, make a left onto Route 403 and head south for approximately six miles to Route 22. Then, take the on-ramp heading east, stay on Route 22 east for two miles and make a left onto Wehrum Road.
The project is expected to wrap up in April of next year.
