Diane L. Hurley, 62, of Shelocta, originally of West Belmar, NJ, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
She was born on February 27, 1963, in Neptune, New Jersey, to the late Arthur and Maria (Van Schoick) Sculthorpe.
Diane attended Wall High School and attended Brookdale Community College, where she earned and proudly maintained a 4.0 GPA. She later worked for many years as a baker at Wegmans, where her love of baking and nurturing others shone through in everything she did.
Diane was a devoted and active member of West Belmar United Methodist Church. There, she served faithfully as Sunday School superintendent, youth group leader, and a member of the food pantry committee. Her faith was lived out through service, kindness, and an unwavering willingness to help anyone in need, earning her an unofficial honorary sainthood.
Above all else, Diane was the heart of her family. She loved baking and hosting holidays, transforming every celebration into a cherished memory with beautiful decorations and thoughtfully themed tables. Halloween held a special place in her heart—she lovingly created costumes for her children, many of which won awards, but all of which were made with joy, creativity, and love.
Diane had a gift for making everyone feel like family and was known as “Aunt Diane” to anyone who didn’t call her “Momma”. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her heart always wide enough to take others in. Friends, neighbors, and loved ones alike felt welcomed, seen, and cared for in her presence. That compassion did not end with her—it lives on through her family, who continue her legacy by welcoming others into their homes and hearts, just as Diane always did.
Diane will be deeply loved and forever remembered by her husband, Billy G. Hurley of Shelocta; her children, Amber (Jimmy) Tarasevitsch, William (Ria) Hurley, Ryan (Jess) Hurley, and Christopher Hurley; her treasured grandchildren, Garrett, Allison, Russell, and Ryatt; her sister, Amy Wolfe; her dear friend, Gina Iacobelli; and her rescued cats, Percy and Blu.
In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her brother, Marcus Sculthorpe.
Diane’s life was a living example of love given freely and without condition, and her warmth, generosity, and open heart will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
In accordance with Diane’s wishes, all services will be private and have been entrusted to the care of the Bowser Minich Funeral Home. To send an online condolence to the family, please visit www.bowserminich.com.
