Only one slot in the Heritage Conference playoff picture needs to be filled in after Friday night’s basketball action on The Road to the KCAC.
In a doubleheader at Marion Center, the Stingers boys defeated West Shamokin 44-37. Alec Brudnock led Marion Center with 11 points, while Aiden Oesterling scored 10 for the Wolves.
In the second game, Marion Center downed Penns Manor, 35-30. Macie Miller led the Stingers with 10 points while Katie Bertolino scored 7 for the Comets.
The Cambria Heights girls topped Portage 49-42 to earn the second seed from the Heritage East, while on the boys side, Conemaugh Township grabbed the East second seed with a 54-51 overtime win over Conemaugh Valley.
The only undetermined spot in the conference semifinals is the two seed from the boys West. Marion Center plays Homer-Center today at 11 AM. If the Wildcats win, they earn the semifinal spot. If Marion Center wins, they must beat Penns Manor in a 7 o’clock game tonight at MC, and they will earn the slot.
So the boys semifinals Monday will feature United hosting either Homer-Center or Marion Center, and River Valley playing Conemaugh Township.
The girls semifinals on Tuesday will have Penns Manor hosting Cambria Heights and Marion Center visiting United.
Meanwhile, in the WPIAL, the Indiana Boys picked up a win against Armstrong. Pat Dougherty reports.
