The interim U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania now has the job for good. Troy Rivetti has served in the role on a fill-in basis since the resignation of the former U.S. Attorney in January of last year. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi appointed Rivetti to the role outright on Wednesday.
He has served the justice department for nearly 30 years and included a series of leadership posts in the U.S. Attorney’s Office. His primary area of concentration has been the investigation and prosecution of violent crime, including large-scale drug trafficking organizations and firearms offenses. He co-led a multi-year investigation and prosecution of Robert Bowers, the perpetrator of the worst antisemitic mass shooting in U.S. history. He served as first chair for the trial team throughout the three-month capital jury selection, trial, and sentencing.
