The Penguins are burning up the NHL, grabbing their fifth straight win last night. Paul Steigerwald has the recap.
Coach Dan Muse says the Penguins are winning because they are playing a consistent all-around game.
Muse credits the players for building a team identity as a group that plays hard on both ends of the ice.
Rookie forward Rutger McGroarty was recalled yesterday after a couple of game at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to get back in game shape after recovering from a concussion, and newly-acquired defenseman Ilya Solovyov made his Penguins debut and put in 16:51 of ice time, paired with Ryan Shea. Justin Brazeau was elevated to the top line replacing the suspended Bryan Rust, and ironically, on a night when the fourth line amassed ten points, the first line was scoreless.
The Penguins play the New York Rangers tomorrow afternoon at PPG Paints Arena. Because of the IUP basketball doubleheader at Seton Hill, there will be no radio on 92.5 FM, U92. The Pens will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the 2016 Stanley Cup championship with Mike Sullivan, now coaching the Rangers, back in the building, and with many of the players from that team and former general manager Jimmy Rutherford returning as well.
