A proposal to move the start of Pennsylania’s Deer Season has failed for now.
At a recent meeting of the game commission board, the members voted 6-3 against moving the start of deer season to the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The season will start on the traditional Saturday after Thanksgiving, which this year will be November 28th. One change to deer season was approved, and that was the end date will be Sunday, December 13th. In past years, rifle deer season has ended on Saturday.
Those in favor of the move saw it as a way to give people who are off from school and work more time to hunt before Thanksgiving. Those who voted against it say they want to study the issue further.
Rifle black bear season will run November 21 to the 24th, with archery bear season to be held October 16th to the 25th, and muzzleloader/special firearms season will be held October 22nd to the 25th.
