The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission reported positive results from its new Super Plow after this weekend’s snowstorm, saying the 550-horsepower truck cleared roughly 3,500 miles of roadway and helped reduce plowing time by several minutes per route.
The vehicle was tested in Somerset County due to heavy snowfall and could be deployed to other regions in future storms.
Officials said only one Super Plow is currently in service.
