The Penguins’ Bryan Rust will have an NHL disciplinary hearing today after the wild finish to Sunday’s game in Vancouver, when Rust’s shoulder made contact with the jaw of Canucks forward Brock Boeser on a scramble in front of the net. Rust was assessed a minor penalty at twenty minutes of the third period.
Boeser was placed on injured reserve yesterday with a concussion. Rust did not intentionally target him and showed concern for Boeser when he got up slowly. Rust has never been disciplined by the NHL in his 12-year-career.
Vancouver also placed defenseman Zeev Buium on injured reserve after he was hit in the face with a puck in Sunday’s game. He returned to the ice wearing a bubble visor after getting struck.
The Pens had the day off yesterday after returning from their four-game western road trip. They will play the Blackhawks on Thursday night at PPG Paints Arena.
