Indiana continues to brace for the anticipated severe winter storm that is expected to roll through the area this weekend.
The National Weather Service Winter Storm Warning starts at 7:00 tonight and will continue through noon on Monday. They are predicting nine to 16 inches of snowfall along with a light glaze of ice in our area. This is coming on the heels of extreme cold conditions overnight, where temperatures were down to -3 and windchills at -13 or colder.
AccuWeather Meteorologist Bill Dager said that conditions have become ripe for the severe winter storm, and the effects could linger afterwards.
Road conditions are expected to deteriorate quickly, but Christina Gibbs with PennDOT District 10 says they are doing everything they can to prepare for the storm. She said that with the extreme cold, they are ready to bolster their road salt with other materials.
People are being advised to avoid travelling during the storm, and it is expected to negatively impact the morning commute.
