Bernadine Houser, 81 of Creekside, died Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, with her family by her side.
She was born in 1936 in Indiana to Dorothy Johnston Miller and Clyde Miller.
Bernadine was an active member in the Harmony Grove Lutheran Church, a compassionate and generous person, a loyal mother, grandmother and friend to all who were blessed to have her in their life.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, getting her hair and nails done (with extra glitter) and spoiling her cat Benson, whom she loved very much. Along with her husband in 1962, they started and operated the Walter L. Houser Coal Co. in Kittanning.
She is survived by her husband Walter L. Houser of Creekside, three daughters and two sons – Carolyn Orr and husband Taylor Orr of Kentucky; Kathy Duncan and husband Randy Duncan of Shelocta; Garry Houser of Home, PA; Terri K. Hamill and husband Chuck Hamill of Creekside; and Mark Houser and wife Katy Houser of Creekside.
She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; her brother Roger Miller and wife Kathy, Creekside, and her sister Linda Smith and husband Tom, Creekside; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father and brother Vernon Miller.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. at the Harmony Grove Lutheran Church, where a funeral service will begin at 2 P.M. with the Rev. David Wasemann officiating.
Interment will be made in the Harmony Grove Cemetery.
