Joseph Phillip “Phip” Baker, Sr., 77, of Derry, PA passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 in Select Specialty Care-Excela Health, Latrobe, PA.
The son of David W. Baker, Sr. and Kathryn (Nuener) Baker, he was born October 18, 1940 in Blairsville, PA.
Phip was a member of Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville, PA.
He graduated from Blairsville High School Class of 1958 and was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Phip worked at Blairsville Thorofare while he was in high school and worked 35 years at Latrobe Steel, retiring in 2002.
He enjoyed working around the house.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Mary J. (Ankney) Baker whom he married October 2, 1971; two sons, Joseph P. Baker, Jr. (Lori) of Derry and Michael D. Baker (Tiffany) of Bellefonte; three grandchildren, Brooke, Paige and Sophia; two sisters, Myrtle McLaughlin of Clarksburg and Jane Curnow of Blairsville and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David W. Baker, Jr. and two sisters, Annabelle Lukcik and Flora Fordyce.
As per Phip’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service.

Pennsylvania is one of fifteen states that does not require any form of identification in order to vote. Meanwhile, eight states require photo ID in order to vote with no exceptions. What should Pennsylvania do?
Keep it the way it is. No ID of any kind required.
Some sort of ID required
Photo ID, with exceptions for religious purposes
Strict photo ID, no exceptions
