The Penguins begin a four-game West Coast road trip tonight against the Kraken in Seattle.
Coach Dan Muse put the team through a practice yesterday after a loss Saturday in a shootout with Columbus, dropping the Pens to 1-7 in shootouts this season. Defenseman Erik Karlsson skated in a non-contact jersey, his first practice since going on injured reserve last Tuesday.
Muse likes the idea of getting away from the East Coast for a while.
The Pens yesterday activated forward Rutger McGroarty from injured reserve and sent him to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to get him back to game action after sitting out the last six games with a concussion. Joona Koppanen was recalled to fill the roster spot.
Defenseman Caleb Jones returned from Wilkes-Barre for evaluation of a new injury suffered while on his conditioning assignment. He was sent out last week for his first game action since suffering a left foot injury in October.
With today’s schedule affected by Martin Luther King Junior Day, faceoff tonight is scheduled for five o’clock. We’re on the air on 92.5 FM U92 at four.
