An event planned next Sunday at the Indiana Theater is generating heated reaction from people both for and against the Homer City Redevelopment project and the data centers that are associated with it.
A group named “Concerned Residents of Western PA – or “CROW” – has organized the meeting, calling it “Homer City Plant and AI Data Center Community Gathering.” In a release announcing the event and in comments in response to concerns about its motivations and purposes, it says it “formed in the fall of 2025” as a “regional group” that has questions and wants answers, which it says Homer City Redevelopment has not been willing to supply.
The panelists next Sunday will be Nina Victoria of Washington County, a Community Advocate from The Center for Coalfield Justice; Jay Ting Walker of Shadyside in Allegheny County, Outreach Coordinator with the Clear Air Council; and Katriana Marquez of Pittsburgh, Civic Engagement Mobilizer from the environmental group PennFuture.
The news release says, “…residents should have an opportunity to understand and debate the extensive environmental impacts of the project on our region’s air quality and water; its negligible economic impact on jobs and community development; its negative market impact on electricity and gas prices—and, finally, the implications of this proposed project beyond our region.”
The doors of the Indiana Theater will open at noon next Sunday and the event is scheduled to begin at one o’clock.
