Obituary for A. Dale Hollenbaugh
Dale Hollenbaugh, age 94, of Homer City, died Thursday, January 11, 2018 at St. Andrew’s Village, Indiana.
He was born in 1923 in Punxsutawney, to Albert Walter and Amanda Pearl Wolfe Hollenbaugh.
Mr. Hollenbaugh was a member of the Brush Valley Chapel. He enjoyed tinkering, toy trains, shopping at St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Shop, flea markets, yard sales, and attending family birthday parties.
A veteran of WWII, he served in the US Army in central Europe as a reconnaissance car crewman.
He had resided in Warren, OH for 30 years where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Heckett Engineering at Republic Steel. Following retirement he was a part of the Red Cap Gang at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Jeanne Mae Culligan, Spokane Valley, WA; one grandson, Christopher “Adam” Dean Browne, Los Angeles, CA; one brother and one sister, Alma Rhine, Homer City; Harry David Hollenbaugh, Home; one brother-in-law, Elmer George “Bud Shuster, Blairsville; one sister-in-law, Birgetta Shuster, Gathersburg, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Virginia Shuster Hollenbaugh in 2013, three sisters and one brother, Mary Little, Margaret Parsley, Lois McCullough, and Samuel Lawson Hollenbaugh.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 1 PM with the Rev. Robert White officiating. Entombment will be made in the Pine View Memorial Park, Warren, OH, on Tuesday.
