At a meeting this morning, the Indiana County Commissioners approved a change order concerning the Welcome Center Project.
The county authorized an additional $12,079 for adding several miscellaneous items including exterior holiday lights, additional patching and painting of the walls, relocating HVAC equipment, window frosting film, electrical outlets and steel work in the existing vault area. Included in that are some credits for the elimination of oak trim work, data cable runs, floor boxes, lighting and signs. The contract with CNC Construction will come to close to $778,000, and the additional costs will be covered by RACP Grant funds and Keystone Communities Initiative Program grant money.
David Morrow with the County Office of Planning and Development says that the project is now in its final phases, with just some punch list items to go before the Indiana County Tourist Bureau, the Chamber and Downtown Indiana move in.
He says they look to be ready to open in about two weeks. A kickoff celebration for America 250PA will be held there on January 25th at 10:30 AM.
Commissioners also approved a contract agreement with the state through the Department of Community and Economic Development for the 2025 Emergency Solutions Grant. The $95,000 award will be utilized by ICCAP for Rapid Rehousing Assistance to help secure permanent housing for homeless people. It will also be used for HMIS Reporting.
