Motions hearings are scheduled today for three individuals charged with kidnapping and killing a 19-year-old Dilltown man in 2022.
Court documents show 23-year-old Thomas Alan Rivera, 24-year-old Isaac Buchkoski and 21-year-old Summer Settlemyer are due before Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco this morning for the hearings connected with the death of Hayden Gareffa. Police say that the three along with Desean Alvarez, Mia Catafano, Taylyn Edwards, Jesse Wadsworth and a person who was 14-years-old at the time went to the home of Gareffa’s grandmother on Route 403 on October 20th of 2022 to kidnap him. His body was found about two miles from the grandmother’s home in an area of tall weeds and brush along Oneida Mine Road in Brush Valley Township. An autopsy showed that Gareffa was stabbed multiple times.
Buchkoski, Settlemyer and Rivera are facing charges of criminal homicide, kidnapping to facilitate a felony, aggravated assault, kidnapping and conspiracy to each of those crimes. The hearings will concern motions to grant written and oral motions from counsel to continue pretrial hearings.
