If you felt or heard a large explosion in Center Township yesterday, that is part of ongoing work at the Homer City Redevelopment site.
The first of these scheduled sub-surface blasts was at 4:30 yesterday at the plant, and those plan to continue until the end of the week. This may result in a blast noise and/or ground vibrations that can be heard or felt by those near the site. The blasts were approved by the state Department of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Mining.
Dates and times of future blasts are subject to change depending on weather and site conditions along with a number of other factors.
