Traffic delays and stoppages are expected today in the area of the new Salina Bridge between Armstrong and Westmoreland Counties.
Work is continuing today to demolish the old Salina Bridge. It’s part of a $33.2 bridge replacement project for the structure that carries Bridge Street over the Kiskiminetas and the Norfolk Southern Railroad between Bell Township, Westmoreland County and Kiskiminetas Township, Armstrong County. The new superstructure will be a three-span continuous composite steel plate girder bridge on a new alignment located immediately downstream from the existing bridge.
Mekis Construction is the prime contractor and work is expected to continue into this year. Drivers are reminded to use caution in the area and follow posted signs and speed limits.
